CALLING ALL CREATIVES!

Alleys & Intersections offers creatives working in any medium a unique platform to develop and exhibit work.

Humans are communal and private individuals, simultaneously. We share food, conversation, identities, while holding private moments, lives, and thoughts. The Alleys & Intersections group residency and exhibition seeks to explore this dichotomy in practice as well as a focus of creative expression. Alleys & Intersections was conceived by Michael Owen and Max Ferency, two Baltimore-based artists and friends who explore these relational themes in their individual artistic practices.

On October 19th, 2017, selected artists will gather at HOME Artist Residency to live and produce work culminating in a public group show on October 22. Living and working quarters will be divided based on the needs of each artist. Provided nightly dinners and exhibition space will be shared.

Artists are responsible for any travel expenses to and from HOME as well as the materials and equipment needed to create work. HOME will provide space to stay and create during the residency, promotions for the group exhibition, connections to local vendors and nightly dinner.

FAQs

Why would I want to apply to this?

Because you want to connect and create. You will have an intensive opportunity to work alongside and connect with the other talented artists in the residency. You will also meet others interested in the Baltimore arts scene at the exhibition. If you are from out-of-town or new-to-town, it will be a great intensive introduction to Baltimore and all these aspects of the arts scene. Furthermore, once the residency and exhibition are complete we will post a page of the Home Artist Residency website featuring the work you contributed as part of the exhibition and a link to your website.

Do you really mean any medium?

What if I’m a performer? A 3D Printing Artist?

Yes, we really mean any medium. We want to work with you and the other artists to create a rich, multifaceted artistic experience for the exhibition. We will do our best to accommodate each artist’s specialty needs to create their best work while on site. We are interested in blending and showcasing creatives that appreciate and are fueled by a communal experience. If you have a crazy idea, throw it our way!

Does the proposed project have to begin and end at HOME?

Projects do not need to start at HOME, but finished work is needed for the exhibition, the last night of the residency.
